SAS Solved question-4

                 Hello everybody. We hope you are doing well. In this section of SAS solved question part 4, we will solve a practical question related to the leave account. Usually, question related to leave account comes in the SAS exam and is of 10 to 20 marks. So anyone who wants to crack The Punjab Civil Service Rules paper should have a thorough knowledge of leave account. 

                Leave account is very easy. First of all, you should have knowledge about all the leaves like Earned leave, half pay leave, Extraordinary leave, etc. To know about every kind of leave you can read our post various kinds of leave available on this website. Now without wasting more time let's start our main question:-

Ques:    Draw the Earned leave and Half pay leave account of a Government employee on the date of retirement from the particulars given below who has also opted new revised leave rules w.e.f 4-11-1988:-

(i)    Date of joining into Government service        01-08-1983.

(ii)    Date of Retirement                                                    31-08-2013

(iii)    Availed Earned leave from 10-06-1987 for 45 days, from 21-06-1994 for 61 days, from 1-9-2000 for 30 days, from 5-8-2012 for 80 days.

(iv)    Availed Half pay leave for 31 days from 02-12-1994, for 48 days from 15-07-2004.

(v)    Availed Extraordinary leave for 90 days from 01-08-2010 with a medical certificate and for 120 days from 05-06-2011 without a medical certificate. 

Ans: Before solving this question, we will firstly keep the following things in our mind:-

  • Periods of all kinds of leave to be excluded from duty period(columns 1 to 3 of leave account form) for earning earned leave up to 23-11-1988. 
  • From 24-11-1988, Periods of all kinds of leave with pay will be included in the duty period for earning Earned leave. 
  • However, the period of Extraordinary leave whether on a medical certificate or otherwise will be excluded as earlier.
  • Half pay leave is credited for each completed year of service means continuous service including duty as well as all kinds of leave including EOL periods.
