How to fill option form after promotion?

                        In this article, we will talk about "Option Form". Many of the employees do not aware of the fact that an employee has to give option regarding increment on the next higher post. This means you have to decide what will be your next date of increment.

Format of Option Form

                       It is commonly seen that many employees after getting promotion face difficulties in filling up "Option Form". In this post, we will see how is the "Option Form" should be filled after promotion. 
                            Let's first see how's the Option Form look like:-

                        As you can see in the above image there are two points, 1 and 2. If you want your next date of increment from the date of promotion then you have to fill point 1 only. This means that if you get promoted in the month of May and you want to get the next annual increment in this month then you fill Point 1 only. If you want to keep the date of the annual increment of your lower post then you have to fill Point 2. In this way, you can retain your old date of increment.
                        It should be kept in mind that only one point should be filled up. If you have filled both the points at once then your option becomes invalid.

Pay Fixation as per Option Form

                    Now we will see how pay is fixed as per option given by the employee. Assume an employee is drawing Basic pay 13970+3600= 17,570/- on the post of Junior Assistant. His date of increment as Junior Assistant is in December. He is promoted on the post of senior assistant and joined on 13-09-2019 forenoon. 
                            Let's see how his pay will be fixed as per option cases:-

If the employee wants to fix his pay from the date of Promotion

                  When an employee wants to fix from the date of promotion then his pay will be fixed as under:-

01-12-2018 --- 13970 3600 17570 Pay as Jr. Asstt.
13-09-2019 530 14500 4400 18900 Pay fixed as per option on the date of promotion
                        In the above case, the next date of increment will be 01-09-2020. 
If the employee wants to retain his old date of increment
                When an employee wants to fix his pay from his old date of increment then his pay will be fixed as under:-

13-09-2019---13970440018370Pay fixed as per option on the date of promotion
            Pay fixed as per rule 11 of revised pay rules 2009

                        In the above case, the next date of increment will be 01-12-2020. 
                As you can see from the above two cases how basic change as per option exercised by the employee. So option should be exercised very carefully. 
Note: This option can be given only within a month from the date of joining as per Revised pay rules 2009.

    1. It depends upon date of Retirement. In the said example if Date of Retirement is 31-10-20 then option 1 is more beneficial.

  7. If a employee is a salesman in a cooperative society having pay Rs. 6150+1900=8050 and is promoted as Secretary having grade pay 2400 and initial pay 9880 on 12.10.2020. The date of previous increment as salesman was 01.05.2020. How will be salary fixed if he chooses option (ii) as explained above.
